I love being a librarian. I am a life long reader. After 30 years of being a classroom teacher and then a Reading Specialist, I went back to school and earned my ALA Librarian Degree from Texas Woman's University. I am now in my 7th year at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary in Arlington, Virginia. Last Spring I was asked to be advocate for students with the AAC device. This involves sharing with all of the students what an AAC device looks like and how it is used. It also invites me to assist students to understand wait time and understand how to communicate with our classmates who use one. I am now taking classes and developing skills and strategies that will support all of our students to have a voice.
I am a member of the Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia board. We raise money to offer books to the Title One schools in our Program in Northern Virginia. I love reading, gardening, traveling, participating in my neighborhood book club, and being with my family.
