Meet Nancy Wright Beasley, author of Izzy’s Fire: Finding Humanity in the Holocaust (nonfiction), The Little Lion: A Hero in the Holocaust (YA historical novel) and co-author of Saving Sara, a play based on The Little Lion. Izzy’s Fire has been taught in Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS) (primarily in 7th grade Language Arts classrooms) since 2005. The Little Lion has been taught since 2018 at Radford City High School in 9th grade English classes. Nancy is currently working on a pilot project with educators in both school systems, including newly-designed lesson plans for social studies, which will be taught in CCPS in 2021. The curricula  meets SOL requirements and also meets the new law (House Bill No. 916) requiring the teaching of the Holocaust in Virginia schools
